Press Release – 2022 Gala Inductees

The Board of Directors of the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the following inductees to be honoured at our 2022 Gala Induction Ceremony:

Inductees

Ed Docherty – Athlete – Karate

  • Winner of 6 Karate Canada National Championship medals in Kata and Kumite disciplines
  • 5-Time Ontario Provincial Karate Champion – Kata (1996, 1999, 2001); Kumite (1993, 2001)
  • Represented Canada at 4 World Chito-Ryu Karate Championships – 2007 World Champion (+75kg Kumite)

Gee Nash – Athlete – Lacrosse

  • Won 2 Minto Cup National Championships (1997 and 1999) – Minto Cup MVP in 1999
  • Won 2 National Lacrosse League (NLL) championships – NLL Goaltender of the Year (2004)
  • Gold Medal: 2007 World Indoor Lacrosse Games; Bronze Medal: U-19 World Field Lacrosse Games

Festivities will include a special presentation to the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2021, who were honoured in our virtual induction ceremony in April 2021: Carolyn Mountjoy, Gil Nieuwendyk, Shawn Williams, and the 1964/1966 Brooklin Concretes softball team.
