Rosemary Theriault

Softball

Rosemary Theriault and her family moved to Whitby in 1984, at which time she began coaching in the Whitby Girls Softball Association.

Her resume of accomplishments includes the following:

  • Coach for 20+ years at both the House League and Rep levels
  • 1986-95: Executive Member of the Whitby Girls Softball Association
  • Executive Member of the North York Woman’s Softball League
  • 1991-98: Executive Member of the Provincial Woman’s Softball Association
  • 1992: Recipient of 125th Anniversary Medal for Canada
  • 1999-2000: Coach for the North American Select Teams at World Cup tournaments in Lyon, France and Schiedam, Holland
  • 2001: Represented Ontario at Canadian Nationals as in Lashburn, Saskatchewan.
  • 1999-2003: Instructed softball clinics in Holland
  • Additional highlights in Rosemary’s softball career are: selected as one of four coaches for Team Ontario at the 2001 Canada Summer Games, coaching in numerous national and international tournaments in Canada and the USA, and acting as an assistant coach with the Durham College Lady Lords Fastball Team.

In 2000, Rosemary won the Durham YWCA Woman of Distinction Award, and in 2002, she was presented with the Outstanding Service Award from the Provincial Women’s Softball Association. She also holds a Level 3 National Coaching Certificate for Fastball.

Furthermore, Rosemary is a Certified Level 2 National Coach for Ringette, and in 1998, she was inducted into the Ontario Ringette Hall of Fame as a Community Builder.
