Commentator, Sledge Hockey | Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games
Veteran sports broadcaster Rob Snoek brings his expertise to CBC/Radio-Canada's broadcast team for the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games as a commentator for sledge hockey. This marks Snoek's seventh Paralympic Games as a broadcaster adding to a resumé that also includes five Olympic Games, the Canada Summer and Winter Games, FIS Snowboard World Championships, IAAF World Athletic Championships, IAAF Diamond League, the Pan American Games and more.
Snoek is a Canadian record-holder in track and field and was a world silver medallist in 1998. His athletic career spanned more than a decade, during which he represented Canada at three Paralympic Games. In 1993, he won the Jim Vipond Award as Ontario's best athlete with a disability and not long after was given the King Clancy award for outstanding contribution to the lives of Canadians with a disability.
Snoek has become one of the key voices promoting Paralympic sport in Canada. He serves on the board of directors of the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons and is a past board member of Athletes CAN.
