Athletics provide people with the chance to meet their neighbours and fellow community members while sports provide young people with an outlet to express themselves and raise their self-esteem. The positive role models created encourage and reward healthy-living and empower youth to get involved in sports, and strive for excellence as well.

The Hall of Fame will generate attention to the Town of Whitby, enhancing tourism; Recognizing local talent gives people who live, have lived or work in Whitby something to be proud of.
